Rifugio Tissi al Col Reàn, 2,250 m asl, was opened by the Belluno CAI section, in 1963.
The mountain guesthouse lies in the municipality of Alleghe, above the famous namesake lake and below the wonderful rock face of Mt Civetta, also known as the “Wall of the Walls”.
The area is included in the UNESCO Dolomites territory, recognized as a World Heritage Site, and takes part in the “Waves Over Mountains” project aiming at developing IT in the Dolomite areas.
From the summit Cross, one of the most scenic views in the Dolomites opens up over the surrounding peaks. The hut is an excellent base along the Alta Via 1 of the Dolomites as well as the Munich to Venice walking trail. Besides, it is the perfect destination for hikers and families.
The Alta Via 1 of the Dolomites covers about 125 km connecting Lake Braies to Belluno, with about 7,300 m of vertical gain.
The trail runs through the heart of the central Dolomites, from Val Pusteria (Bolzano Province) to the Veneto plain, across the Dolomites of Braies, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Val di Zoldo, Agordo, and Belluno.
This long-distance trek is not particularly demanding. It runs through wonderful landscapes and is signposted with blue triangles on which No. 1 stands out.
